Property owners have their own rights and regulations that they should adhere to. A property owner is considered someone who owns land, a building, or a house. Check out what your rights are as a property owner below.
When you’re buying a property or own one, you need to know what zoning regulations are in place. Different zones apply to different types of properties, such as residential or commercial. Residential is typically for homes with mortgages. Commercial is typically for businesses with business loans.
Each zone will have different rules that apply as well. You’ll need to know if your home or business is the right size or height. If your property has too many rooms, you may violate your zoning regulations. Check with your local government to see what zoning laws apply to your property.
Eminent Domain Laws
A domain law is when someone owns the rights to a piece of land and can sell it whenever they like. You can get absolute ownership of your land by going to your local government and getting a title that designates this. While domain laws still mean you have to follow local laws like zoning, you’ll be able to have more control over your property.
However, an eminent domain order is when your property is put up for sale for the public. An example of this would be when your local government puts your property up for sale to build a new road or parking lot. If you face an eminent domain order, you have the right to legal representation. You can stand up for yourself if you don’t think you were justly compensated.
If there are squatters on your property, you have the right to remove them, as it is your property. However, if you have someone living on your land who pays rent, removing them can be a little more difficult (even without a lease). You may need to remove them like you would a regular tenant and take them to court.
Get in contact with your local law enforcement if someone dangerous is living on your property. Don’t try to remove them yourself, as you may get hurt.

You could also ask other people in your neighborhood to see what zoning laws apply to them. Then you can follow their lead and get a general idea while waiting to hear back from government officials.
