About Greenville

This town was for many years a part of Mason, which was chartered in 1768. What is now Greenville was alternately known as Slipton, Mason Harbor, and Mason Village. By 1872 it was a prosperous community, its location at the High Falls on the Souhegan River providing access to plentiful water power for the state's first industries. At one time, there were factories making cotton and woolen goods, furniture, shoes, twine, flour, lead pencils, and tinware. Incorporated in 1872, Greenville is the third-youngest town in New Hampshire. (info from NHES website)
